LETHAL WEAPON: DVD

SYNOPSIS:
Veteran detective Murtagh (Danny Glover) is partnered with young detective Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) who seems to have a suicidal death wish. They still manage to uncover a huge drug operation, and their friendship – a sort of odd couple affair – grows as they bond amidst the mayhem and danger of Los Angeles.

"This was the quantum leap for Mel Gibson as he hit the very big time with the blockbuster buddy movie – a notion that would return for years to come. Mel plays Martin Riggs, a suicidal detective grieving for the loss of his wife. He is assigned to Roger Murtough, an older detective with a family, looking for the quietest of possible lives. But Riggs has other ideas and even having a tea break can cause palpitations the way he handles life. Into the equation slimes Gary Busey, a never say die hit man for a major drug runner. Busey is as desperate as Riggs is but he is, of course, inherently nasty as well, sinking in the end to kidnapping and torture to achieve his ends. Standard action stuff these days – the only difference is in the pairing and Mel’s full-on maniacal desperado detective. And, as usual, there’s never a policeman around when you need one. The DVD is at the basic end of the DVD market – scene access, languages and the usual good vision and sound but without anything extra to distinguish it which is probably a good thing."
